1.The government's investment in arts, music and theatre is a waste of money. Governments should invest these funds in public services instead. To what extent do you agree with this statement?

 It is believed that financing activities related to art, music and theatre by governments is misspending and these investments should be rather spent on public services. I strongly disagree with this because these creative activities promote tourism as well as keep the mental well-being of people in a better state.

2. While recruiting a new employee, the employer should pay more attention to their personal qualities, rather than qualifications and experience. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

 

It is claimed that during the hiring process, more importance should be given to individual attributes of a new recruit, instead of educational and professional background. In my opinion, qualifications and previous work experience are of increased consideration because an employee with these qualities helps in the financial growth of the company along with performing his job more professionally.

It is believed that during the hiring process, a candidate’s personal aspects should be prioritized upon his/her academic and professional achievements. I agree with this approach not only because an individual is defined by personal traits but also due to the fact that capabilities and skills can be developed rather easily while on the job.

3. Nowadays celebrities are more famous for their glamour and wealth than for their achievements, and this sets a bad example to young people. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

 

In recent years, glamour and wealth have brought more fame to well-known personalities instead of their accomplishments and this has a negative impact on youth. I totally agree with this statement because youngsters get distracted from education and productive activities and instead of hard work they expect quick success.

4. There is no need to maintain a close relationship with distant relatives.

Do you agree or disagree with this statement?

It is considered that keeping a close bond with distant family is unneeded. I strongly disagree with this because these remote relations help make the social circle strong as well as they sometimes support and assist in emergency situations.

5. When designing building, the intended use of the building should be taken in into account as important rather than the outward appearance?

To what extent do you agree or disagree?

 

It is argued that more attention should be paid to the usage of infrastructure instead of the outside look of the building while designing it. I totally agree with this statement because purpose-built buildings are safer and cost-effective.

When it comes to the architectural aspects of a building, the purpose should be given more weight than the elevation. I agree with this idea because utility is the key factor in the planning of floor plans and also the fact that a purpose-built facility offers more safety features.

6. Some people consider price as the most important thing to think about when buying products (such as cellphones) or services (medical treatments) do you agree or disagree?

These days, during the purchase of products and services, increased significance is given to pricing. I strongly disagree with this because quality should be given more value than price and sometimes comparing prices leads you to wrong decisions.

It is often argued that for a certain amount of individuals, the monetary aspects pose as the decisive element when procuring goods or services. I agree with this school of thought because normally quality and price are directly proportional to each other, and also the fact some people prefer budget-friendly products or services.

7. The internet allows us to stay connected with each other no matter where we are. On the other hand it isolates us and encourages people not to socialise.

The internet helps us connect beyond boundaries. However, it is believed that it also creates distance and makes us not socialise. I disagree with the statement because the internet keeps us connected socially to anyone in a single click and we can stay updated via social media websites.  

8. The continued rise in the world population is the greatest problem faced by humanity at present time. 

What are the causes of this continued rise ? Do you agree that it is the greatest problem faced by humanity?

Overpopulation has become a major concern for the entire world in modern times. The major factors are lack of awareness and low mortality rate. I agree with the statement because this is depleting the natural resources of the world.

9. In the past, when the students did a university degree , they tended to study in their own country. Nowadays, they have more opportunity to study abroad.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of this development?

Students preferred to study in their home country in the past. However, these days there is enough opportunity to study in foreign countries. In my view, studying abroad grooms the students' personalities and ensures a bright career path. On the other hand, a student has to survive on their own and it is very expensive to study in another country.

10. Young people prefer listening to music rather than listening to the news on the radio. Is this a positive or a negative trend? Provide reasons and examples for your opinion.

It has been observed that the young generation nowadays is more inclined towards listening to music than to the news on the radio. It is a negative trend as the youth is often not updated on the recent happenings and this is also resulting in their lack of general knowledge.
