Age Profiles of Male and Female Cinema Goers - Academic Task 1

The following bar graph compares the age profiles of male and female cinema goers in the year 2012. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The bar graph illustrates the percentage of male and female cinema goers in 2012 across five different age groups, ranging from 14–17 years to 50 years and above. The figures represent the average number of visits per year.

Overall, cinema attendance increased steadily with age for both men and women, with the highest proportion observed among those aged 50 and above. Women generally went to the cinema more frequently than men, except in the younger groups, where the figures were nearly equal.

Only 7% of both men and women aged 14–17 visited cinemas, making it the lowest across all groups. Among 18–24 year olds, participation rose slightly to 15% for women and 16% for men. Attendance grew further in the 25–34 age bracket, with 20% of women and 23% of men. In the 35–49 age group, both genders recorded equal attendance of 25%. The most significant increase occurred in the 50+ category, where women dominated at 33% compared to 29% of men, showing the strongest engagement in cinema-going activities.
