Friends with same or opposing views (Discuss both views)

Some people think that we should have friends with the same views and others believe that having friends with opposing views is better.

Discuss both views and give your opinion.

It is believed that we should befriend people who have similar views as ourselves, while others are of the opinion that it is okay if your friends sometimes do not agree with your opinions. Personally, I think it is okay for people to have certain disagreements and still be friends.

In our daily lives, we generally find topics of mutual interest when starting a conversation either with a stranger, colleague or among friend. This is because it acts as a comfort zone and we do not have to be extra cautious while talking to each other. When it comes to friendships, certain aspects such as cultural, religious and personal, come into play. For a friendship to sustain, it is believed that the friends should share the same views as this acts as a comfort zone in the friendship and reduces conflicts. For example, international students from China tend to make friends with people from their home country due to the same reasons.

On the other hand, there are people who believe that it is acceptable if friends sometimes disagree with one another. Firstly, it must be understood that no two human beings are the same, and we are unique in our own ways so the possibility of having a disagreement will always be there. Secondly, these disagreements should not be a threat to a friendship, rather they should be topics of interest for either a debate or to learning new things from different perspectives.

I believe that it is perfectly normal to have friends who do not share the same opinion as us. It is because our abilities to analyze and process are usually different hence resulting in occasional disagreements. Therefore, friendships should be based upon other key elements like respect, care and being there for each other in time of need instead of having common likes and dislikes. For example, my best friend is from Turkey, and we do not share similar views about several things but it does not harm our friendship.

In conclusion, it is understandable if some people think it is suitable to have like-minded people as friends while others believe that the difference in opinion is acceptable. In my opinion, people with different views can be good friends.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It is believed that we should befriend people who have similar views as ourselves, while others are of the opinion that one should have friends who have opposing opinions. I think one should have both kinds of friends.

On one hand, having friends with similar views can be beneficial as it allows for a deeper understanding and connection between individuals. When friends share similar beliefs and values, they are able to relate to each other on a personal level, which can lead to a stronger bond and a sense of belonging. Furthermore, friends with similar views may be able to support each other in ways that friends with opposing views cannot. For example, if an individual is going through a difficult time and their friends share similar views, they may be able to offer a sense of understanding and empathy that can be hard to find elsewhere.

On the other hand, having friends with opposing views can be beneficial as it allows for a wider perspective and understanding of different viewpoints. Friends with opposing views can challenge our own beliefs and force us to question and examine our own opinions. This can lead to a more well-rounded and open-minded individual. Additionally, friends with opposing views can expose us to new ideas and ways of thinking that we may not have considered otherwise.

In my opinion, having a balance of friends with similar and opposing views is ideal. Having friends with similar views can provide a sense of connection and support, while friends with opposing views can challenge our own beliefs and expose us to new ideas. It is important to surround ourselves with a diverse group of people who can offer different perspectives and opinions. It not only helps us to develop a more open mind but also to gain a broader understanding of the world around us.

In conclusion, while having friends with similar views can provide a deeper understanding and connection, having friends with opposing views is better as it allows for a wider perspective and understanding of different viewpoints. Having a balance of both is ideal, as it allows for personal growth and a broader understanding of the world.
