Organised Group Activities or Individual Activities (Discuss both views)
Some people say that parents should encourage their children to take part in organized group activities in their free time. Others say that it is important for children to learn how to occupy themselves on their own.
Discuss both views and give your own opinion.
It is argued how a child should spend his or her free time. Some parents believe in group activities while others prefer giving children opportunity to self-occupy in their free time. I personally believe that a hybrid approach would be more beneficial.
A certain group of parents are of the opinion that engaging in group activities enables their off-springs to become more tolerant and better team players, and also helps develop certain skills. This is to say that the interaction with other children and opportunity to learn in a proper environment is what plays a very positive role. For instance, it is often found that people, who were a part of sports clubs in school, are better at team work and have good sporting skills even after growing up.
Another school of thought is to let the child be on his or her own. This way, the child is expected to soon indulge in an activity of interest and become self-engaged. Children are known to be creative and are able to come up with solutions to their boredom often very quickly. It is quite a learning experience to see a child play on his or her own as they tend to showcase their interests, abilities and behaviours. Thus, by providing children freedom to self-discover, parents can better analyze the child’s aptitude. For example, as a father myself, I observed that my daughter has a keen interest in drawing and she is often found drawing in her free time.
In my opinion, the right approach in this case would be to first give a child some time and let him or her get engaged in activities that they prefer. Parents should now observe carefully and identify the child’s areas of interest. The next step would be to encourage the child to work on their interests and develop skills accordingly. This can be done by letting them participate in group events related to their field of interest. Hence by doing so, not only the young one will take more interest in the event but will also get encouragement from the fellow participants.
To conclude, certain parents are of the opinion that organized activities are better for children as they promote tolerance, team work and help in skills development, others consider letting children to self-explore activities as a more suitable option. I believe first parents should identify their child’s aptitude and interests and then engage in relevant group activities.
